The (Mom) Sick Day

We've all seen this meme before, and it's pretty damn accurate if you ask me. When anyone in the house gets sick, it's usually Mom (or Dad, if there is no Mom), to the rescue, but what happens when Mom gets sick? Absolutely nothing.

First. let me start off by explaining that this is not to say Dad's are incapable of caring for sick family members. I happen to have been blessed with an amazing husband who always helps out when the kids are sick, and when I am sick, he is the one taking care of the kids and house while I (try to) rest. However, if you are a parent, or remember what it was like when you were sick as a child, who is usually the parent our little sickos go to for comfort? Mom.

So anyway, a few weeks ago both my kids came down with a cold. Normally this is not a big deal, but they both ended up with fevers for a few days. and they both wanted/needed me (Dad is military and is currently away. This tidbit is important to the rest of the story.). Still, no big deal. MAMA TO THE RESCUE!

Then the worst happened: I got sick the day after them. Thaaat's right. My little plague-infested petri dishes shared their lovely germs with me (remember, I said Dad is away...), but there is no time to rest when you still have two children to take care of. That whole week was a drug-fueled blur. All I remember was a constant wave of snot, phlegm, no sleep, cough medicines, and crying (from ALL of us). At the end of each day once they were asleep, I crashed hard in my bed, most nights still wearing my clothes. It was rough. But we all survived.

So cheers to you, my fellow Moms (and single Dads). Cheers to one day actually getting to rest during a Sick Day. *clink*

Yes, this is how I self-medicate
