The Reason The End of Daylight Saving Time Kicks Ass

Daylight Saving has ended, so it's time to turn our clocks back one whole hour. Before kids, this was the best feeling! Gaining an extra hour of sleep, feeling more rested in the mornings...I couldn't wait! After kids, it's a fucking nightmare. Unfortunately, young kids cannot tell time, so even though the clock says 6am, their bodies tell them it is 7am and it's time to start the day. The complaints are endless. But me? I look forward to it. No, this is not my message indicating I'm being held against my will. It's "I'd love to have a 3rd child," just in case.

Yes, it's a pain in the ass when my kids wake up an hour earlier, but once I have that glorious first cup of coffee (okay, 2 cups), I'm ready to start the day, and guess what? I have an extra hour to get shit done! Just today, we finished our morning routine of breakfast, cleanup, mommy showering (yes, that does happen), and dressing for the day an hour early, so I got to do the food shopping, unpacking, laundry, lunch, nap time for baby, outside play, dinner, cleanup, and baths with an extra hour. That gives me the luxury of not feeling like I have to rush through everything, and I got to relax more in between the craziness.

I'm honestly the last person that should be telling you to budget your time better (Believe me, this is the ONLY day of the year I am this organized and motivated), but with an extra hour in the day, just a tiny bit of planning and a whole lot of coffee can set us up to successfully get shit done without exhausting ourselves. Plus, and here is the best part, since bedtime is technically one hour later today, the kids are so tired, I get to put them to bed earlier! Now mommy has an extra hour to fuck around.

Where's my wine....?
