These bitches...
I admit, I'm a big fan of Mommy Blogs and websites like Baby Center. Most of the time, they are my go-to for advice, and it's nice to know I'm not alone during certain parenting struggles. But there is one aspect of these blogs that are like an eclipse: I know I shouldn't look, but I can't help it: The Comment Section.
That is when my reading experience takes a downhill turn. Most comments are friendly, supportive, and full of other great advice. The rest? Negative Nancy's, Debbie Downer's, Know-It-All Nellie's, and..... like I said, BITCHES!
Mom's (and Dad's), I have to ask: WHY do you care how other people raise they're own children? Unless some form of neglect or abuse is involved, why do you care if someone had their baby's ears pierced? Kid's eat frozen meals all of the time? They're being FED, what's the big deal? If you want to keep your baby's ears intact and feed her organic, gluten-free, vegan food, good on you. That's your choice. Leave the overtired, overworked, stressed out single parent, who feeds her/his kids frozen meals for convenience, alone. Leave the parents who made the choice to pierce their baby's ears, because it is their cultural tradition, alone. Leave the parents whose house looks like a nuclear disaster zone, and have a hard time keeping clean with 3 kids running around and one disabled parent who cannot contribute, alone.
In today's social media-driven society, us parents need to band together more than ever. More and more parents come to the internet for advice every day, and the last thing they need to hear is they are being a bad parent because they're raising their children in a way you don't agree with.
SETTLE DOWN, BECKY. We all fuck up, even you. We are all doing the best we can.
